James Gorman, MOTORCYCLE SPORTS, 49 years old, Hip replacement

James Gorman, MOTORCYCLE SPORTS, 49 years old, Hip replacement

I've had a full right hip replacement surgery done back in January 14th 2021 in the middle of the pandemic. My journey from start to finish was of the highest professional standards, I can't fault the Nord orthopedics clinic at all, I highly recommend there services and would definitely have another procedure done in the clinic if needed. All the logistics where brilliant and the secretaries where also brilliant in there organising events. The staff and surgeon at nordorthopaedics where also really professional and down to earth. I am making a speedy recovery and I am so happy.

Paul Jenkinson, CYCLING & ROCK CLIMBING, 54 years old, Hip replacement

Paul Jenkinson, CYCLING & ROCK CLIMBING, 54 years old, Hip replacement

Before the hip replacement I was doing lots of cycling - road and mountain bikes , rock climbing indoors and out along with some walking. The walking was sometimes difficult but cycling was normally pain free. I am recovering well but taking it slowly on the advice of the physio from UPA who was really helpful and knowledgeable. I have started to use an indoor bike for fitness recently but carefully at first. I expect this to be a gradual progression to doing more and then progressing outside. I was off work for only two weeks though I have been working mostly from home. Thanks you very much to all at the clinic for the fantastic service.

Marc Ranks, ICE HOCKEY, 62 years old, Hip replacement

Marc Ranks, ICE HOCKEY, 62 years old, Hip replacement

My result has been outstanding! I have a pond and the video I took was my third time on skates in 20 months. I played a game on Dec 1, I will now play 2 - 3 times / week going forward. I have played ice hockey since I was 8. There are many leagues, tournaments and games for all levels of skills and ages. I enjoy it for many reasons and was quite sad when 10 months ago I had to use a cane to walk and believed I would never skate again. I hope this lasts, I have been given my life back. Thank you so much.

Raymond Baker, TRIATHLON, 74 years old, High Tibial Osteotomy

I am pleased to report that the pain has nearly disappeared. My rehabilitation is going well and I am already training in the pool and on the bike. I will begin treadmill slow running in 3 weeks. I hope to compete in a 10km running race and a sprint triathlon this summer. I am extremely pleased with both my experience with the Nordorthopaedics clinic and the outcome of the surgery.

Brent Stradeski, BODY BUILDER, KAYAKING, 60 years old, Hip replacement

Brent Stradeski, BODY BUILDER, KAYAKING, 60 years old, Hip replacement

So to start, i was alway active. I did competitive body building. I was a member of the CPC “Canadian Power Lifting Congress” and the the WPC “World power lifting congress. I’ve placed 2nd, 3rd and fourth in several regional and provincial body building contests. I’ve placed in the top three in many power lifting contests. In 2015 I broke a 701lb Canadian squat record in my weight and age division with a 767lb squat. I quit competitive lifting in 2016 due to a career change, however I continued to lift for my own health and well being. Some of my other activities included hiking up mountains with a 70lb back pack to spend weekends out in the middle of the mountains with my wife in remote back country areas.

I also love kayaking! We go out to the west coast of Canada and spend two weeks kayaking, sometimes with the seals. Sometimes with the hump back whales. Our shortest day is about 5 hours on the water, our longest day was 10 hours on the water. Another pass time in the summer is wake boarding, boat surfing and knee boarding.
In the winter I enjoy snow boarding. Six years ago when I was diagnosed with arthritis in my left hip the sports doctor told me he wouldn’t refer me for a replacement because the deterioration wasn’t severe enough. Five years later I had a hard time walking. I was in constant pain and walked with a permanent limp. My family doctor had X-rays done and referred me to a hip & knee surgeon. Nine months later I still hadn’t heard from him. I was pretty much walker bound. Some friends ask me if I twisted my ankle so I told them about my hip and that I still hadn’t heard from the clinic. By this point I couldn’t do any of the things I loved to do. I couldn’t even get onto my Harley to take it for a ride. They told me about a friend of theirs that had accompanied a friend to your clinic for a hip replacement and this lady had only praise for it. I did some research and sent an email and two months later I was in the recovery room with a brand new hip. After two weeks of physiotherapy I returned home and walked off the plane with out any walking aids at all. A week later I was back working, six and a half weeks after surgery I was back up on a wakeboard. Due to deterioration in my lower back there are still thing i can’t do but I’m working through it. I still can’t back pack but that has nothing to do with my hip. I wakeboard, kneeboard, surf, go to the gym and work out and I put 12,000kms on my Harley this summer. Nordorthopaedics has given my a whole lot of life back that was lost. Thanks to everyone there for your great care and professionalism. I tell everyone about how awesome you are and I hope anyone that needs ur help gets in touch with you!!
