One of the biggest surgical centres in the Baltics
Our clinic is one of the biggest surgical centres in the Baltic region. We work with patients from various countries, among which Great Britain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, etc.
Despite the size of the clinic we provide our patients with personal care and assistance. The majority of big public hospitals due to high volume of patients do not have enough resources and medical personnel to pay personal attention to each patient. Whereas we are fully focused on providing exceptional care and undivided attention for our patients.
Without any additional fees patients are tended in the clinic as long as they need. We only discharge our patients from the clinic when they are in a good health state and ready to leave.
Half the price
All inclusive price, which is twice lower than in Western European clinics.
Our clinic works with medical professionals of highest education and experience level and uses the same materials as the clinics in Western Europe. More often than not, the quality of our clinic‘s facilities exceed the ones in Western European clinics.
The price difference is only due to considerably lower average salaries and taxes - which is the main reason for medical travel everywhere around the world.

What is Hallux valgus (Bunion)?

The term Hallux valgus comes from Latin, ''hallux''  meaning the big toe and ''valgus'' - to lean outward. In other words, Hallux valgus (Bunion) is a foot deformity that involves the shift of the big toe out of place towards the other toes creating a bump.

Hallux valgus surgery abroadDue to persistent pressure from shoes or the ground the big toes continues to go towards the next toe, as a result toe joint looses its balance and the natural range of movement becomes limited. It is important to note, that a bunion condition progresses with time and if not treated it may become severe.

What causes Hallux valgus (Bunion)?

Most often bunion is caused by wearing uncomfortable shoes that squeeze and crush toes forcing them into abnormal position.  Bunions are also heredity and may be inherited in a family. Another cause for this deformity is arthritis.

When Hallux valgus (Bunion) surgery is required?

Normally Bunion is treated with non-surgical ways but when these measures do not help to relieve the pain and improve the condition surgery is recommended. For instance, if pain obstructs performance of the regular daily activities such as walking without pain. Toe may become stiff and it may be impossible either straighten or bent it.

Hallux valgus (Bunion) surgery

During the surgery the abnormal position of the big toe is treated in order to narrow the foot, achieve shape that is more close to the natural and restore the balance of the joint. There is a number of different surgeries for bunion. Which one is performed depends on the severity of the damage and the shape of the foot. Surgery may include the shortening of the loose and sloppy tissues or the removal of the impaired joint parts, securing the parts with screws for the healing process or the realignment of the joint.

Rehabilitation after hallux valgus surgery

At first a patient is required to wear a protective cast and walk with a cane for the first days. Later on it is central to follow rehabilitation plan to achieve  the best results and ensure successful healing, to strengthen the foot and improve the range of movement.
